My Story

Hi, my name is Lori Hansen.  An Alberta girl born and raised in Camrose, Alberta.  I moved to Edmonton for college, worked for several years at U of A, then a workplace skills program for women re-entering the job market and eventually at a community college.  I met a nice guy and decided to relocate to Calgary and eventually married him barefoot on a beach near Playa del Carmen, Mexico.  After moving to Calgary I worked as an executive assistant, team lead and office manager for over 18 years with a consulting firm.

I was fortunate enough to have my grandparents in my life, and I had a close relationship with them. My mother played a significant role in assisting our great-grandmother and then both her parents with their daily needs. I am aware that her dedication to them improved their quality of life and most likely extended their lives.

In 2015 and 2016 my maternal grandparents passed away at 91 and 95 years of age.  A firm believer that life is short and things need to change if we are not happy, in July 2016 I bid adieu to the corporate world.

During my temporary "retirement" period, I had the chance to unwind, travel and ponder about the next direction of my life. After giving it much thought, I decided to utilize my personal and professional skills to start a business catering to a growing demographic — seniors! I realized that not every family has people available to assist their aging loved ones and I wanted to offer my assistance in providing much-needed services. That's how I came up with the Service Outside the Line idea.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be my own boss, meet amazing clients, and experience unique day-to-day situations. With almost 30 years of experience in business and personal connections, I have a vast network of contacts to help me provide the best services to you. I will apply my skills in project management, organization, and leadership to the services we provide. I am looking forward to meeting with you to discuss how we can collaborate to simplify your life!"
